WHI IS FREEDA?
Freeda is an award-winning Afro-Pop artiste from Namibia, whose 15-year journey has moulded her into a vibrant solo artist with well-choreographed performances that are well loved by her fans. Currently signed on to the Westcoast D.O.C record label, she makes her debut on Coke Studio Africa 2017 as a Big Break Artist paired with Wawa Salegy from Madagascar and Kiff No Beat from Ivory Coast.
Prior to going solo, Freeda was part of a group, Gal Level, which went on to become one of the most celebrated female duos in Southern Africa, compared to the likes of Destiny’s Child from the US. The group was nominated for numerous awards all over Africa including the Channel O Music Video Awards for Best African Southern Best R&B Video, KORA awards for Best Female Group Southern Africa, Sanlam Namibian Music Awards, MTV Base Awards and NAMA Awards. More than a decade later, Freeda embarked on a solo career and got signed on to Deal Done Records, where she released her first solo album “Just Freeda”. In 2014, she was signed on by Westcoast D.O.C and has so far released a new album “Chronicles”, which featured hit songs Change the World, Mutjaka, Mojo and No Money No Honey. Key sales for the album were in Europe, USA, Australia, Japan, Norway, and China. She has performed alongside great African artists such as Mafikizolo, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and P Square.
GIRL ON HER LEVEL
With a growing global audience, Westcoast D.O.C has ensured her music is heard beyond Africa by securing a marketing deal with Hollywood Unlocked, a Hollywood based Media Company owned by Jason Lee of the Love and Hip Hop fame and champion boxer Floyd Mayweather. Under this deal, Hollywood Unlocked will be Freeda’s brand ambassador and market the Freeda brand in the US. Additionally, UK-based company Twilight Studios is responsible for marketing her brand in Europe.
THE BACK STORY
